Am VA WP now. Booked a dom VA SYD-MEL connecting to a VA23 MEL-LAX and return VA2 LAX-SYD leg.

Was able to OLSS (online seat select) SYD-MEL and LAX-SYD but not MEL-LAX. Rang up VA WP service line and they said they could see seat map. (Of course they could - if they couldn't then theres something very wrong) Anyway booked 5K on MEL-LAX.

Asked them why I could not OLSS MEL-LAX when i could OLSS LAX-SYD, they said it could be the website?

Anyone else had similar issues.

I also asked for a shadow and they did not know what I meant. Which seat in j do you book to increase chance of shadow. Window or aisle?

Cheers

The gf also has had some issues with her on line seat selection for her upcoming MEL-LAX trip. But it seems to work fine for later in the year.

Yup, all I get is a 'seats will be allocated at check in' message.

MEL-SYD-LAX-BNE-MEL in Y. Selected all seats during booking without issue and can change online now if I wish.

I also selected mine during booking without issue, could access them with a little work after that, but now cannot get in at all. The VA rep could however.

Had this happen a few times of late with j tickets on the syd-lax route. A quick call and all is usually ok. If you want a shadow best to ask at checkin for them to block to seat next to you if not a full load.

I'm a WP at the moment, and have just upgraded my SYD-LAX for Feb 2015.
When I login I can choose seats, including row 5. I want to choose that, however I'm most likely going to drop to Gold by the time I travel, so if I choose row 5 now, would there be a chance I would lose it upon check in?

I'm worried that if I choose row 5 now, and lose it on check in, that my wife and I will be stuck in the middle block of 3 seats, whereas if I choose another row (not row 5) now then I at least know we'll have the window.

Don't know the likelihood of losing. I guess it depends on whether a plat gazumps if that is at all possible. I've done row 5 both ways as gold. One allocated at checkin and another after calling and selecting.
