Hi Everyone

I think the answer to this is no - but if anyone can confirm it would be much appreciated.

Looking to book a flight PER->SIN return, and have a decent cache of VA Points I'd love to use for an upgrade. If I book using VA tool on a Freedom fare, is it possible to request an SQ booking number and upgrade using VA points transferred to SQ/KF?

Difference between VA & SQ Flex Economy is significant on the dates I'm looking at.

Thanks in advance

Upgrade not possible on codeshare flight. Best option for an upgrade is booking through SQ site, transfer the required VA points to KrisFlyer and request for an upgrade then.

The number of points required to upgrade a SQ flight from Y to J is not that much different to just getting a reward flight.
You will also need to purchase one of the more expensive Y fares in order to be eligible. So it may not be worth it. Better of transferring the points to SQ, and getting a reward flight.

The real answer is never book through VA on someone else's metal :(
spacebar

Exactly that - Can't believe it's still as bad at is. Have 5 family members flying SQ (booked thru VA) this week and they can't select their seats.

I wouldn't say that necessarily, I booked VA numbers on EY operated in the lowest discount economy fare class, and still managed to score a complimentary upgrade to business on AUH-BEG. Pretty sure the flight was overbooked in economy judging by the number of people in the gate lounge for an A319. So despite being VA coded flights, and low fare yield, my VA gold still got me in the nice seats.
