VA1 changing departure time again!

Booked on VA1 (SYD-LAX) for June 2015 and at the time the departure time was 1320 arriving 1025 (same day but next if you know what I mean). A few weeks ago (was away so not posted before now) I got an email from VA saying that "There has been an unavoidable change to your flight schedule"

and the new times are:

Depart 0950
Arrive 0630

Now this is a PITA as I'd already booked our onward flight to YVR with Alaska allowing four hours between flights. Now we've got eight lovely hours in LAX!

Why did they change it again?

The return (VA2) time has changed as well but is a mere 5 minutes later.

 

[Quickstatus]

The flights timetable were changed sometime ago but obviously after you bought your ticket. i understand the timetable changes were part of a reorganisation of their timetable which included cancelling the Mel-Lax flights. Obviously there is prob nothing you can do to bring forward the the second segment flight.

If I were in your position I would book a "Day rate hotel room" at one of the airport hotels (which is better than an overnight rate) and then go visit some sights such as santa Monica which will be a nice summer beachy spot.

these things happen sometimes and are part of commercial air travel. At least its not a timetable change that shortens your layover time

I actually booked a flight via Brisbane so we would arrive at LAX earlier than VA1. Then they changed VA1 to the schedule I preferred..... not happy but reward flights so I cant change them.

You can go find In & Out burgers and then hit the Hilton for a few hours as they have a day rate from 9am check in.

Yar. I had a day there in October and caught the cheapie bus ($1) to Santa Monica which was good fun. At least I know better than to ever visit Venice Beach again! What a dump!

We've got a few hours there again on the way back but think we'll just hang in the lounge.
