Taking advantage of Virgin's seat sale for SYD-HKG, I just booked a return flight in business class.

During the booking process it didn't allow me to make a seat assignment which I thought was very strange even allowing for the fact I'm a VFF Platinum Member. It said I would be assigned a seat when I checked in.

I rang the call center and explained the issue. The person I spoke to was somewhat surprised about this and offered to assign me a seat. She explained that the seating is 2x2. I explained that the seating plan on VA's web site for the A330-200 clearly showed it was 1x2x1 and I suggested she go and take a look. Anyway I didn't want to get involved with a long discussion on this and I was able to have seat 1A allocated to me for both sectors which is confirmed in my booking.

Searching this forum, this appears to be a similar issue to the post from back in January this year VA 86/87 Hong Kong A330-200 Seat config relating to flights to HKG from MEL.

Is this a classic case of the left-hand not knowing what the right-hand is doing????

Yes ... e/f shows the same 1 aisle 2x2 ... but that is incorrect.

1A and you are on your own.
