It looks like Velocity has made some changes to Etihad carrier charges during the "break".
These used to be USD50 per sector in Economy, USD215 per sector in Business or USD300 per sector in First. The charges are now variable based on the distance of the flight:

Unfortunately, for the SYD-AUH and MEL-AUH routes, this now means the charges are higher overall.

In some good news though, Velocity has removed the carrier charge for Delta flights. Virgin Australia and Etihad are now the only Velocity partner airlines for which carrier charges apply.
