I'm considering flying EY on DPS-AUH-DUB-AUH-SYD in J.
The DPS-AUH leg is via KUL with KUL-AUH on an EY flight number and EY metal. For DPS-AUH it is EY flight number on MH metal.

So my question is, will I be able to earn Velocity Points and SCs?

I don't know the answer, but I'm very interested in it from whoever does. Particularly now that the same would apply to EY's codeshare with AirBerlin.

ISTR reading on here that the only codeshares that will credit are the ones operated or marketed by DJ/VA, as well as the Delta Connection flights marketed by DL.

AirBerlin....... I always fly GermanWings.... very good airline. I may have to change my mind if we can get points etal.... with AirBerlin. I also would be very interested in answer to OP.

Looks like you might have to be the official guinea pig with this one Andyc!

I wonder if there's the prospect Air Berlin could become a partner to both VA and QF. It isn't really done but i can't see any actual competition reasons that should stop it - given it has little or no impact on the Australian marketplace and would be a drop in the bucket in terms of European competition.

I know this is not an Air Berlin thread however this would be good news as Air Berlin have a very good network in Europe (even though I have stuck with Germanwings in the past.) They could be a very good partner as 777 stated to VA. (not QF because I try not to fly with them) The other alternative would be Germanwings but I am sure they couldn't have both.

Well, VA definitely need a partner for intra-Europe flights (currently no way to earn Velocity points once you've made it to Europe on EY). The question is whether it would be Airberlin? Sure they're partially owned by Etihad, but they're going to be a Oneworld member soon, which I imagine would rule out forming a partnership with VA.

Thoughts?

That blows that idea out of the water...... didn't know about the Oneworld connection. It looks like I will stick with Germanwings:idea:
