Hi all,
just wondering whether Velocity Gold members have an increased checked luggage allowance when flying on SQ? I have searched the DJ and SQ sites as well as AFF and have not been able to find any information. I'm flying in Y so that would normally be 20kg.
Looking forward to the lounge access when I fly to DEL in Dec!
cheers
Bert

Thanks Winchester, missed that bit...
Perhaps when the points earning etc have been worked out between DJ and SQ we might see some luggage allowances for VFFs too.

I emailed Virgin as they announced their upcoming partnership with SQ, and told them that as SQ's allowance in Y is only 20kgs, I would never fly with them (even with lounge access and priority check-in etc) until they offered *at least* the now-standard 23kgs (either by default or for DJ Gold)... 20kgs is just pitiful - QF is 23kg for Y with no status, and EK is 30kgs!!!

... I do certainly hope they sort that one out! :)

As i understand it the SQ relationship has not actually been approved by the ACCC yet. The lounge access is all that is in place until such time as they get the sign off at which point they will then announce whatever larger plans that they have.

Eventually they will sort something out I guess. Singapore Airlines gives their Krisflyer Elite Gold Members, which is equivalent to Velocity Gold, an extra 20 kg of baggage.

So maybe when they get something worked out, they'll give Velocity Gold FFS the same allowance.

Currently Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic do not give Velocity Gold/Plat FFS any extra luggage allowances, and they both allow only 20kg.

I know this is an old thread but am i right in saying now Velocity Gold would get an extra 15kg on top of the standard 20kg when flying with SQ?

Right on the money. 35kg is the minimum maximum for Gold Velocity peeps

Below is an extract from an email I got from the Singapore Airlines Brisbane office. Looks good to me:

Please refer to our recent telephone conversation regarding your above Booking Reference. I have forwarded separately the new itinerary for you, with travel now commencing from Sydney instead of Brisbane on 06 September 2012. We have also been advised by our Airport staff that as a Velocity Gold Member, you are entitled to an extra 20 kg for checked baggage with Singapore Airlines flights.

And I assume if I want to - I can use it all in one bag (Assuming i don't go over the health & safety 32kg)

Am planning to take one bag and it's about 28kg and dont wanna have probs at airport
