Hi All,

Making my inaugural trip on V Australia on Friday BNE-HKT.

Looking for some advice on whether V Australia recognise Gold Velocity as QF recognise WP. Has anyone flown on VA as Gold Velocity and received any perks akin to being a SG or WP with QF (both written and unwritten)?

Am booked into economy (couldn't persuade Mrs Zeit to pay twice the fare for Y+ - oh how different it is on personal cash :D) and it looks like a full flight. Perhaps the Virgin Gods will look kindly on me and my Golden glow and push me and Mrs Zeit nearer the front - have learned never to hope too much for this though.

Any experiences (primary or secondary) would be interesting to hear about.

Cheers,

Zeit

I don't know about the free upgrade but they should let you do a paid on departure upgrade at a reasonable price.

In December I flew SYD - BNE - LAX on VA and was offered an upgrade to J for the BNE - LAX leg of it. I'm a silver velocity member and can only guess that was why I got offered it!

So was I recognised? I would say so.

Good luck!

When you say offered, you mean you got it for free, or they offered you a price you had to pay for it?

Congrats anyway!

Flew VA23 on Jan 7th and it was a very full flight. At least 6 people in Y+ were upgraded to "J" not sure if they had status or were just lucky! Great flight.

Who says no to that question???:confused::confused:

I had one situation where I was bumped from J to F (after a successful points upgrade from Y to J) when I was a mere PS.

J was over-sold, and a husband (presumably WP or CL) was bumped to F and his wife was not allowed to join him. So, he was more than happy to surrender the F seat to me so he could sit next to his wife.

"Happy Wife, Happy Life" as they say. I'm not complaining. Was LHR-MEL :)

I just took a look at a cool new 3D walkthrough of the 777 on the V Australia website...looks very nice. I wondered if someone could clarify something for me, the info sections in the walkthrough say that in Economy you get noise cancelling headphones, and that it's only 1 free alcoholic beverage? I thought that the offering in Economy was changed to unlimited free alcoholic beverages?? Perhaps this info is outdated.

My understanding is that you don't get either in Y. The one-drink policy is still enforced and noise-cancelling headphones are only given in Y+ and J.
