So we are flying offto Melbourne this weekend. We purchased saver fares. Through my work, I have apaid lounge membership till 2014.

On the ticket forthe saver fare, it clearly states:
• LOUNGE ENTRY:Lounge entry is not available for Saver fare guests.

I'm ASSUMING thatthis means it's not part of the ticket - but seeing that I have a paidmembership, I can still access the lounge? I just need to present my Redvelocity card?

Secondly, we land inMelbourne at something like 6am. Are weable to use the lounge at the arrival air port for a few hours? Or is it fordeparting flights only?

Unfortunately Iwasn't able to use my 2for1 Virgin flyer card offer, as I didn't book 21 daysin advance. Does anyone know how strict they are on this rule, and why theyhave it? I would have thought it was better for them, as it means that ifwithin 21 days, there are still tickets available, the chances are it's not afull flight?

And finally, doesanyone know if the Per-Mel route has free inflight entertainment? Or is it paidonly?

Thanks for yourassistance.

Yes, if you are a paid member, you can still access the lounge on a saver fare. I can't answer your other questions.

Correct. You'll need your Lounge card to enter the lounge, not your Velocity card.

Unfortunately not. Arrivals Access is only available to status members not Red Velocity.

You can always call and ask, but I don't like your chances. Never hurts to ask nicely.

You don't mention when you are travelling (I'll assume within the next 21 days) but the PER-SYD/MEL flights are going 'full service' on September 26th, meaning you'll get a hot meal and complimentary alcoholic beverages after midday (soft beverages all day). I've never flown 'back of the bus' to PER so i'm not sure what the IFE options are there, but I believe they're rolling Galaxy Tablets out for IFE.
Thanks for yourassistance.

Hmm, I don't have/never received a lounge card? When I log in to my velocity online, it says lounge membership available to 2014 august... I might need to call and clarify this tomorrow.

Thanks for your help - Did ask for the 2for1 but they said no :(

Flying this Friday, so before 26th Sept, 737-800 it seems. Guess i'll have to cross my fingers and hope!

Thanks for your response

Your Velocity card will act as your Lounge member card - they will be able to swipe and see that you have a lounge membership.

If you have misplaced your Velocity card I doubt it will be a problem - your Velocity number should be on your boarding pass, and they should be able to look you up manually on the system.

I have booked the 2 for 1 offer when travel was 13 days away. It all depends on the agent at the time. When I went to make further bookings under the offer under the 21 days, and they refused, I gave them my PNR of the booking that they did honour under the 21 days and they have no problems doing it.

So if I am booking 4 tickets

1x me
1 x wife
1 x mate
1 x mates wife

I made the booking, I understand that we all get 5x cost of flight in points each. My mate's wife is not a velocity rewards - will the points default to me (being the booker), or will it go to waste?

You won't get them - they will go to waste. Tell her to sign up ASAP and then she can keep them or use family pooling to give them to her husband.

This depends on the aircraft you'll be in too. If you get one of the shiny new A330s then you'll get RED, which is video-on-demand and has plenty of stuff to keep you occupied. If you get a 737 there might not be anything :( I'd bring a good book just in case.

Thanks guys, justgot back yesterday. Had no issues getting into lounge at both Perth andMelbourne by showing my red velocity card.

Both flights hadlive foxtel channels, and the option to purchase movies, so time went byreasonably well.
