An update about accessing Velocity for foreign residents.

We put out a press release today (not yet on website) advising that members of either Flying Club or Velocity can earn points when flying on any of Virgin Atlantic, V Australia or Virgin Blue and that we are working on plans for reciprocal redemption. Also have reciprocal recognition of tiers in the pipeline. The outcome of that will be that Flying Club members, wherever they reside (and it is open to people living just about anywhere) will effectively be able to partipate in Velocity and vice versa. Basically intending to replicate what exists within the formal alliances. This will essentially be our model for servicing guests living away from AUS/NZ rather than trying to run a global progam on our own.

I can tell you that the CEOs of the Virgin branded airlines have talked about having a single program which would aim to combine the best features of each program but can't give anything away on likelihood, progress or timing - sorry for being a tease.

cheers

Dave,

That is very good news. Seems like a good way of extending the global reach of Virgin Blue.

Recipricol recognition of tiers would encourage me to do something about my status (with its rather reddish hue and all!)

This is just what the wife and i were discussing - the fact that from here to LA were fine but from LA to here were not! It would be great to see them finally lined up - after all they are under the same banner... Look forward to hearing more

And yes you are a tease!:mrgreen:

Any word on whether partner airlines are included in this arrangement, eg. will Velocity members be eligible for points accrual on BMI?
