Hey guys,

I am a QF points collector and haven't really collected anything else at this stage except for China airlines. Been thinking would it be better to also start collecting QR or Velocity if you were to compare the two memberships/tiering schedules if the plan is to use mainly for europe travel?

It always takes so much thinking and planning before deciding which program to go for and stick on long term.

Cheers!

You haven't said how you will be earning points.

Assuming it's just for VA flights in Australia, note you only get status for VA flights with a QR code, so not a lot of options domestically. Otherwise you'll only be earnings Avios. Which will take a lot of flights to earn for a trip to Europe. And if you're doing a lot of flying but only on VA codes to earn avios, then you won't have status, which would remove lounge access in spite of all that flying (unless you're flying business all the time).

So you'd really have to explain your plans more to realistically achieve that goal. e.g which routes, how often, what class.

As a generic answer, it's therefore more likely that VA would be better suited. But not enough info given to give a more specific answer.

EU is small with a wide range of airlines. And has a very good train network. Point to point at times a train beats air travel after taking into account getting to/from airports and waiting/security/immigration.
