Re: Velocity Platinum Amex - 50,000 bonus points for $500 spend in 3 months - $349 fe

As a Plat charge holder, I think I was ineligible for the bonus points - so signed the missus up and she was approved pronto. 50,000 points and a return flight for $349 is awesome. I do plan to cancel it later in the year once the point earn reverts to the coughpy 3-2-1 (I have already got my charge for that), and she's used the free flight. Then, we will churn through the next one with generous bonus points. Happy days!

Re: Velocity Platinum Amex - 50,000 bonus points for $500 spend in 3 months - $349 fe

I just cancelled mine a couple of weeks before the annual charge was due to hit. Surprisingly the two lounge passes credited through to my account. I now have six additional passes to the lounge! Only thing is, as a WP how do I use 'em? Going to have to find me some sort of sporting team and invite them all in (Netballers, I'm thinking ;-)

Was tempted to book the flight prior to cancelling, however the helpful Platinum line chap told me "if you book the flight, they will charge you the annual fee - you have to be an existing cardholder to actually take the flight". Interesting, I'm not sure how they can enforce that one...?
