Probably not much. The merchant agreement that VA has with their payment provider will almost certainly specify that refunds must go back to the original card.

So what happens where you dont have that card anymore?

From personal experience, I can't say. On the few occasions I've gotten funds returned to my credit card I've always been fortunate enough to not have had a card lost/expire in the meantime. However, it's probably a common occurrence so I'm sure someone can provide an answer.

Another possibility is that the taxes could go into a credit shell - in fact all other things being equal that's probably what Velocity would like you to do rather than get a refund.

The refund will be processed and your old credit card issuer will contact you to advise that you have a credit sitting in your account. You'll then have the option of having them transferring it to an Australian bank account.

Just to update cancelled flights today and refund has gone to a credit shell no issues
