Hi all,

I joined a little while ago but have been rather slow in posting/saying hi.
Just wanted to say that I am finding the information on here extremely useful and wanted to thank everyone who contributes to maintaining this wonderful site for us less educated FF's.
I am VA Platinum which happened after a year of heavy travel (mainly domestic but 1/2 OS trips too) but now have the travel bug and am trying to learn how to maximise things like award seats/credit card points earn etc...
Look forward to learning lots and meeting some new people through the site! :)

Hi Blockers.

Over the last 2 years what are the threads that have interested you the most?

Welcome Blockers, and look forward to hearing more as you put all the tips and tricks to use.

A belated welcome aboard Blockers - you gotta love that travel bug :)

Hi Dr Ralph, OATEK & Steady - thanks for the welcome.
Dr Ralph - I've mainly been looking at reward seat options (and best ways to use) + when to book etc; lots of tricks to learn.
Also been reviewing credit cards (and offers) was tempted to move to Amex Plat but after reading reviews and weighing cost v benefits finding it hard to justify.
The current 100k points offer is very tempting but I'm already an Amex member (Velocity Plat) so not eligible :(

Am planning a trip to Singapore/Thailand in March and Europe 2017 so lots of time to get up to speed!

And another belated welcome aboard Blockers. Don't be shy and also attend the odd social event Lots to learn in person as well as on the forum.

Hi Jacques Vert - thanks for the welcome and the link! yes - did see that, looks like it will be a great weekend. I am going to be in NZ for a wedding but very keen to get along to the next outing.
I see I recently missed some drinks in Sydney but hopefully something else is on the cards soon. Cheers

Thanks prozac, really enjoying all of the info on here.
Have spent a few days reading through various CC offers, finally made the value equation work on an AMEX plat charge and applied through an AFF referral.
Card arrives in next few days so onto phase 2 - points

Hi, I've just retired to spend my life travelling and am getting lots of value from this website and community. I'm on such a steep learning curve and wish I'd started accruing points more consistently a few years ago, but I'm learning now thanks to this site. Thanks again, next plan is to start using the points!!

Greetings and welcome to AFF Blockers. You can get good value from Velocity with transfers to SQ for example. Guess we will see you up the front any time now.

And also a welcome to AFF Hazelsmum. Good to read you are doing something positive in retirement - Flying!

Thanks Buzzard - yes had a flight recently with SQ (service was great) even down the back of the bus where i was.... I have done some reading re SQ upgrades with points transfers through VFF, some posts suggest that the availability is quite good but they are more expensive? Need to do some more research as I am collecting points for a trip to Europe 2017. Welcome Hazelsmum! Sounds like you have a good retirement hobby sorted :)
