Hi all just returned from Brisbane last night on QF 637 in seat 2f, a new 737-800 it still had a new plane smell, as we taxied out to take off the safety briefing began and the volume was almost eardrum bursting I looked at the Flight attendant who said that the sound could not be reduced and looked embarrassed by his inability to turn down the volume, It's so loud that I put on my noise cancellation headphones and it was still very loud.

Has any one experienced this?

Yes. Painfully loud. I'm not sure what is worse that or the couple of times I hadn't been able to hear a word the pilot was saying during the in flight brief.

Agree.... also appears to be some lag in the PA announcements when listening via headphones....

Yes what is it with that? Ridiculously loud, including pilot announcements during flight. And no volume control?

Yeah they do seem to have turned up the volume lately, however I would prefer to hear them properly (even loudly) than not hear them at all, which used to happen a lot.
