G´day there everyone,

these are fairly simple questions and I have tried to distill clear answers from other threads, but am confused.

I am based overseas and so do little domestic travel in Australia. I am WP with QFF. I am travelling 10th Oct from BNE to CNS and back again, in business, on flights QF798 and QF655 respectively.

Questions:

1.- What is the go with seat allocation? I see that all the first row is unavailable on both flights. The second and third rows are totally free. Does QF hold the front row for CL´s?

2.- Does the first row become available closer to trip date? Have heard of a T-80 concept but dont understand it. Is that 80 hrs before departure? Will that affect this?

3.- In any case, a check on seat guru shows 1A and 1C as yellow, but 1D and 1F as green. Is there a major difference left side of aisle vs right side? And, being 6´7¨, am I better off in 2nd or 3rd row anyway?

Sorry to clutter AFF with such trivial and personal questions, but I just know that some of you can answer this stuff in seconds. Am glad to help with any advice about Sth American travel in appreciation! :)

Any Row 1 seat will be fine, and they open up to WPs within 80 hours of the flight after the block comes off. Leg room in the other seats is not as good IMHO but it also depends if you like to store things under the seat in front which obviously is not an option in Row 1.

Thanks Markis. Have booked 2A in the interim but will try to remember to check ¨T-80¨.

I find it amusing that WP is still only good enough to allow preselection of the rear two thirds of the J cabin. Not whinging, I love QF, but makes me feel WP is not exactly the bees knees anymore.

Any idea why seatguru shows the left side seats as bad ones? Their message when you hover over them is same as the right side ¨good¨ seats.

Probably due to the limited storage in the lockers above owing to equipment taking the space. I did a few flights last week in 1A, I like it because its the first service seat.

I had wondered the same thing too juddles, so made a point of checking when flying J in a 737-800. There is no difference in the seating arrangements on either side (love the space..!!!) however the overhead bin on the left is smaller, so if both passengers have hand luggage, some may need to be stored in another bin. Also, when chatting with my fellow passenger (who was very tall), I asked what he thought of the leg room in 1 vs the other seats, and 1 was definitely his preference.

Not always the first service seat - I did a flight in row 1 earlier this week and the CSM started the service in 1F and then worked across to 1D, 1C and 1A.

Thats quite true, I think I also had one flight like that, its still nice to be in row 1.

Thanks for all the info people! I have a much better idea of how it works and what to expect. As always, this site delivers great advice.

My main expertise is in BNE/SYD - LAX/SCL - BOG/MDE and Carribean travel, so any questions, just PM me!

Cheers,
Judd.
