From what I gather the J setup is now 2-2-2 with the same seats as 2-3-2 only with a table across the middle seat. Any ideas when they will actually get a proper 2-2-2 cabin comparable to EBM/EBN?? A table across the middle seats is hardly following through on the promise to reconfigure these aircraft as true 2-2-2. Any photos??

A table across the middle seats is hardly following through on the promise to reconfigure these aircraft as true 2-2-2.

I'm guessing the time involved in ordering and getting the seats is not insubstantial.

Do we know for sure it's going to happen? The only thing I've read is the commitment to go to 2-2-2, which they now technically are.

I've done PER-SYD in J on one of them (can't remember which), when it was still 2-3-2, and the seats aren't up to domestic J standard IMHO, middle seat included or not. I'd love to see them changed, but I haven't actually seen anything to suggest that's the ultimate resolution.

Apparently EBO has been back to its maker, and has just returned to service. Reading the Qantas Source seems it had a troubled May with its nose wheel.

It struck me as a long way to go to get a nose job, must have been a serious problem!

Is the nose wheel steering an A330 problem? It set QPI back 10+ hours when going to HKG a few years back

I am travelling QF650 J PER-BNE 26 September and it shows aircraft as a 332. I noticed in another thread that Red Roo indicated the 2-3-2 config predominantly on SYD/MEL-PER.

Anyone know the likely hood of getting the 2-3-2 vs 2-2-2 on the BNE-PER leg, maybe seeing what aircraft has run the last few days? Could BNE-PER-BNE possibly be an INT config plane which they use DOM in between PER-Aisa trips?

Cheers

Thanks Serfty, the link to QANTAS Flight Tracker. shows that while early July had a nice mix, the last 7 days have all been on EBP. "Select Seats" at QF shows the middle section as being D&F, so looks like it is the 2-3-2.

Oh well.

Looks like I'll be on EBO or EBP in a couple of weeks time. Two of us flying PER-MEL in J (an evening/dinner flight).

For anyone who has flown them in J and especially since the "workspace" was added:

Are some rows better than others? Is the legroom better in row 1? And now that the centre seats have the "workspace" are they a better choice?

According to the Qantas source, the J seats on EBO/EBP are still wider than a domestic 767 and only 1" less in pitch. Are they that bad then?

Having flown EBO once I found the seats wide enough and much prefer having gate to gate IFE on the seatback rather than a pullout that you can't use to cruise and gets in the way at meal time

I've flown on both and there isnt a big lot of legroom in row 1 as there are no cutouts.

But the IFE is located in the bulkhead so you can watch it gate to gate.
