Yes I generally agree with the argument re diminishing returns. Having said that, I broke my usual $ ceiling late last year & bought a 6 case of Maverick, Ahren's Creek Ancestor Vines 2021 shiraz from the 'Fo, at $50_bottle (oooh!). It's $320/bott from the maker, genuinely very old vines, is well made, & should be a great wine. And I thought it might be an interesting experiment ie "can I taste $320 worth?" which also begs the question "are my tasting skills up to it?" And most importantly, we may get to share a really memorable wine.
