Hi Guys,

Not a big poster so I hope this is in the right place.

Can anyone tell me how to find out what class a Code-Share flight would be in?

I am looking at booking Brisbane to Johannesburg via South African Airways with the Brisbane to Perth leg being with Virgin Australia however before booking I would like to know what class the VA flight would be as it would make a big difference to my decision if I could use my free upgrades.

Any help would be great!

Many Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong, but are the codeshares reciprocal yet? I didn't think they were (I.e the SA code on VA flights, but not the other way around).
That's what I remember from the early days of this news breaking.

However in terms of booking class, does that not depend on the price you pay - I do realise my first part of the response may not have any relevance to the OP.

Sorry maybe Code-share is the wrong terminology. I am looking at booking a South African Airways flight from Brisbane to Johannesburg, for the Brisbane to Perth leg SAA use VA, how can I find out what the class code for the VA fare would be before booking? The SAA website suggests 2 checked baggage of 23KG which does not actually fit any of VA's fare types however both a Saver and Flexi come with 1 checked of 23kg with the option to buy another.

See if Expedia can offer the fare, they are very clear with the buckets.

The baggage allowance won't necessarily relate directly to a Virgin fare, as you enjoy the International baggage allowance on the domestic leg.

If you PM me your dates/flights I'll be able to quickly search and tell you the VA class it's booking into...

Thanks for all the replies, I checked out Expedia as suggested and it's a saver class so a free upgrade is not possible.
