Hi - I've just emigrated to Australia and been here a few weeks. I flew a lot with Virgin Atlantic and am top tier (Gold) in their Flying Club.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get Virgin Australia Velocity to status match me? I'd like to keep flying with the Virgin Group

Write a very nice status match letter to DJ advising your relocation and projected flight plans towards DJ.
:)
Emphasis on the "id like to keep flying with the virgin group"

Tried that - and got this :

The Velocity Program has previously matched Status tiers on a case by case basis to allow those that travel frequently the opportunity to experience benefits that Velocity provides Virgin Australia frequent flyers. Due to overwhelming demand recently, our Status tier matching allocation has now been exhausted and unfortunately further claims are not able to be processed. Since you mentioned that you intend to do more business with us in the future, may we suggest that you contact the Corporate Sales Team on 13 67 77 or

You can continue to credit to Flying Club, though may need to include some international travel to stay at Gold level. It will give you the same perks though.

As for status matching, as above, they're no longer providing any. It doesn't look hard to earn though and I'm sure you could credit to Velocity while using FC Gold for perks ;)

Good idea - thanks

If I considered going to the darkside ;-) do you think Qantas would match my Virgin Atlantic status?

Shame - guess I'll have to start from scratch again then :(

With Qantas yes, but as I said above, if you took the Velocity route I'm sure you could use FC Gold for lounge access and credit to Velocity to build up status, so it'd be as if you weren't starting from scratch ;)

Good luck regardless!

Use your VS Gold card to take advantage of lounge access / priority when flighting with VA, credit your flights to Velocity and you should have Velocity status in short order :)

Oh, and welcome! :)

Thanks - I'm working for Vodafone Australia and Virgin is their preferred supplier so I'm sure they have some lucrative arrangement :-)

+1 on this.

I have done this before, as former VS Gold I use the card to get access to The Lounge but credit the miles using my velocity account. This is the best way for you to get the best of both worlds whilst on transition.

I have to say though I never really got priority boarding access using VS Gold card. But not a biggie compare to getting lounge access.

Also welcome to AFF!
