First DJ get domestic boarding at convenience working via a dedicated lane and now they have given their Golds anytime lounge access:

Entry & Access | Virgin Australia
"Subject to space availability, Velocity Gold members are welcome in the Virgin Australia lounge at any time, and do not require a boarding pass."

So Red Roo and AJ it now appears DJ have given their FFers what you took away from your WPs (anytime lounge access) and what you never bothered to make happen (boarding at convenience). This also means DJ Golds have lounge arrival access as well no matter who they flew with.

What can I say? How about Well Done DJ for looking after your FFers and Shame on you QF for taking your FFers for granted?

Good on them. Mind you, I go through Sydney and Perth practically every week, and Melbourne and Adelaide every couple of weeks and have never been asked to show a boarding pass at SYD, MLB or ADL (qantas). They used to scan my card in the lounge at Perth, but they only do this occasionally now. I just flash the WP card and go in (am always actually flying). Am I missing something?

Certainly a good move and good product differentiation from QF. However let's wait and see how long that lasts when (if) the DJ lounges get as crowded as QP's are.

Really? ADL? They must know something about me, as they(qantas) always ask for a BP.

I have had this experience too of just being waived in when I checked in with my QC card in MEL. I didn't have a boarding pass (just the text message to the phone) so I just held up the card and kept walking and there were no questions. I assumed the issue was that people are checking in without boarding passes, but they don't have the equipment at the lounge to quickly swipe/read the new cards? So they just trust you?

On topic: an interesting move by VA but what happens when they become gold heavy like Emirates? Not much room to expand in Aussie domestic terminals - over full lounges is a major turn off.

Massive expansion at SYD T2, a complete new second lounge level!!!!

And a whole new VAA terminal for PER!!! (With easy transfer to intrastate & international.)

And all this while QF removes AnytimeAccess as a written benefit for HVC, poor form from the QAN CEO and chairman.

Exactly my experience at all major ports ie: SYD/MEL/PER/ADL/BNE - flash the card and through you go.

Wave past-

Syd, Mel, Bne

BP requested-

PER!!! All the bloody time- used it as arrivals and they had to get a supervisor....hate this lounge and the dragons

Well Perth is a long way from Sydney and maybe the message that WPs get arrival lounge access has not yet got there. Gotta love a big screen smart phone with a bookmark to the WP benefit page.

Just click the bookmark and let the dragon read. What does that have to do with Qantas they say? Oops sorry that was the DJ Gold benefit page giving anytime, even no BP at all, lounge access. OK mate here is the WP page stating WPs get arrivals access.

Gotta love QF and DJ and eating buttered popcorn as we watch the old and new dog on the block eying each other off. ;)
