Hi,

I can't find a conclusive answer online but I'm assuming the answer is I don't have access but I wanted to clarify.
Has anyone flown the Virgin Australia Tokyo route?

I'm flying Tokyo Haneda --> Cairns --> Brisbane in late January this year.
The ticket was booked through the Virgin/Velocity website.

I know Velocity Gold members aren't granted ANA lounge access but is this also the same if Star Alliance Gold too.

I assume no access given Virgin Australia is not a Star Alliance partner anyway.
I wanted to see if anyone had managed to get into the lounge or had other ideas.

Thank you!

I don't think you have missed anything.

Priority pass or its ilk may be your best bets.

I just wanted to get a feel of whether I showed up to the ANA lounge and flashed a ticket and a Star Alliance Gold membership card whether they would be more lenient with the rules, or if there was an exception for this purpose.

It seemed like a grey area with no specific guidance around this one use case.

Unfortunately you'll be out of luck. The Japanese are sticklers for the rules.

Not a chance.

For access to ANA (or star alliance) lounges you need to be flying on a star alliance carrier.

The one exception on this route is those with ANA Gold (or higher) Status who are booked on the Virgin flight but with the NH flight number but this is a non star alliance exception made by ANA for their own elite members.

Ah yep this all makes sense

I was being overly optimistic.

Thank you for clarifying everyone
VA cannot even offer a lounge at CNS Domestic or International never mind HND. We are just going to book an additional day/night in Tokyo hotel but check out early in the evening and head for the flight back to Australia. Additional night reasonable rather than buying sub standard PP for HND. Doing it in Sept.

Hey OP, have you taken this journey with Virgin before?
I wish you best of luck, they fly their single aisle 737s on this journey - a plane that is really only suitable for domestic or Trans-Tasman hops. Not the most comfortable plane to be taking such a long flight on, though I am guessing the price was right compared to other offerings?

Do let us know how you get on!

No, never before. In economy X to make it marginally better.

It was the only the rewards flight, and it seemed kind of interesting.
