Does that make it 10 take offs a day from rockhampton?
I think its time for a lounge.

I wonder when DJ will start flying to Moranbah.

Extra traffic to Emerald so they must be seeing good qty of PAXS on that route.

I certainly hope with extra flights to Emerald they reduce the price. Avg of $271 each way is killing me.

I don't think it will be too long until we see TSV-MOV happening on a RPT basis (presently occurs on a sporadic charter basis). There most definitely is an available aircraft for such a service sitting around in TSV both morning and evening before and after the coastal milk-run. Then again, perhaps this aircraft could be used to beef up the TSV-CNS service...

Wholeheartedly agree and wouldn't mind betting that this would be next on the cards given it is primarily a business destination and has the next highest number of seats/day in terms of ports without an existing or confirmed Lounge. Then again, as previously discussed, I think that in the ports where a Lounge can't be sustained, something like the Air NZ Link Lounge in CHC, or even a deal with the eatery within the terminal would be beneficial to maintaining an edge over QF (particularly in ports such as EMD and GLT where Virgin is trying to make an inroads and would presently be unable to sustain a Lounge - whilst QF has greater frequency and a Lounge in both ports)

The additional BNE-NTL flights are handy for me, particularly DJ1102.
Must say that I am particularly happy seeing the additional frequency into NTL. For such a sizeable city, the schedule is so marginal. Clearly, the airline has seen that there is demand there for the additional service, and I'm now waiting in the hope that they do a later evening flight on the BNE-NTL route (if they can pull the morning F100 off the ROK flight and replace it with an ATR for the benefit of NTL, surely they can do the same in the evening...?) Perhaps overnighting an aircraft? (the first JQ flight of the morning up to BNE always goes out full). There is some space in the NTL market that Virgin really just needs to grab. As I've previously said, split the current 738 frequency to MEL to two F100/E190 flights (morning and evening) so that it can better compete with the frequency of JQ. The business traveller in NTL travels JQ because of its frequency - the cost is just a bonus. In my mind, if Virgin beefed up their schedule into NTL with jet aircraft, they will become increasingly more popular. I'm not saying growth to the size of JQ operations is necessary - but enough to meet the needs to businesses and the local community. >removes self from high horse<

I think additional CNS TSV flights will be a priority compared to RPT into MOV. On thrusdays the early AM flight with QF is going for $500 a seat each week.

This may sound crazy, but as a regular MEL-NTL-MEL flyer i had a thought recently that DJ should try for a once or twice daily NTL-CBR service on the ATR. Could serve a bit of O+D but if timed right it could feed passengers on to MEL, ADL, HBA and other points South and West and make up for the fact that Virgin only have one direct MEL-NTL a day and it's horribly timed for business. Sydney is too close but with the right bit of network scheduling virgin could use a well timed flight to grow it's direct CBR links as well.

... failing that they could just find a way to codeshare or sell tix on the Rex flights to Sydney which would solve the problem entirely.

Interesting idea...but stemming from that is the poor ADL and HBA schedule Virgin has out of CBR. For pax going to MEL and CBR it would work - but ADL flights only go in the evening (as a return). HBA-CBR operates in the morning and goes back in the evening. So a hypothetical late-afternoon ATR NTL-CBR would work to get people out of NTL, but to get them back in could prove more tricky. In my mind, scrap the current NTL-MEL flight and put on two business-friendly smaller planes. I'm dreaming I know...but such a timetable is beckoning to be "dreamed a little dream of" (sorry...Louis Armstrong moment). Then, well, some direct HBA or ADL flights would be nice...(and I'm told every time I fly through NTL by staff that the stats indicate there are enough people [180 was their quantifier] to fill a plane every day to PER, HBA and ADL)

Part of my thinking is that by feeding the CBR-ADL and CBR-HBA flights you make them a little more viable as well.

The bigger problem is actually that there's no late evening flight CBR-MEL. The HBA and ADL flights could feed quite well with a late day flight out of NTL. However MEL would still be a miss -- although, again, the extra feed from Newcastle could get that over the line as well perhaps.

I would certainly think 2 x 190s would be a nice improvement but who knows. Perhaps they could add an extra Fokker frequency to MEL?

Yupp I get your thinking there. So in theory, bump up some of the CBR flights (an additional evening MEL flight would be good) with morning rotations to HBA and ADL? The HBA flight does very well with some very solid loads and occasional up gauging to 737 or 738. Whilst hubbing is good occasionally in order to connect the more minor centres (and CBR would be an interesting hub), I think that with effective scheduling, Virgin could boost its NTL schedule to be 3xBNE, 2xMEL, 1xADL, 1xHBA (all on a daily basis and with F100/E190s operating the services - potential also for 2x CBR on ATR as 777 suggested to provide further connections). Thoughts? NTL does have the demand - it just needs the services, and goodness knows I hope it's not JQ that fills the demand.

Once the new terminal opens in CBR it will be a very good transit point. I hope an think VA Will open a J lounge.

Too bad we'll never see a CBR-BNK service.
