Hello all!

Just to clear a couple of things up, these are the current planes in the new livery:
VH-YFC
VH-YFF
VH-YVA
VH-XFA
VH-XFB
2x ATR's- Yet to enter service.

And you may be asking, when is VH-YFE going to be painted? YFE is the current -800 flying around with no colours and equipped with sky interior.

VH-YFE will be painted in the new colours on the 24th July (This Month).

VH-YIA and VH-YIB are the next -800's to arrive.

And just to clear some over stuff up, ALL new 737-800's inc YFC, YFE, YFF all have sky interior, all new -800's to be delivered will have sky interior.

And some are also saying what's the go with -8FE and -81D etc, there is no difference at all, its just the code for that purchase eg. QF's is 38, so that is why we see 737-838, 747-438 etc. FE, is DJ's code for all purchases, so ones without 8FE are leased.

Hope that cleared some stuff up.

Jack

Fantastic thread! Could one of the mods please apply some sticky sauce to it? Would be great to have a handy reference as the fleet is updated..

I had a good chat with one of the DJ 737 pilots today about the aircraft update. (We were delayed a very long time... Would you believe the flight after me was YFE... Soo close.)

He said they have a building at BNE they are trying to get certified, once it's approved they'll be able to refit/repaint 737's there. Hopefully doing two aircraft a week.

This new facility is expected to come online within the next month.

Hey Liam! Hahaha, maybe next time! I do hope it gets approved soon, because they will be rapidly re-configuring the 737 fleet, as business class fares go on sale from October, and JB said the interiors of the 737 fleet will be done by October, and by the end of the year we will see 20 Virgin planes in the new livery, including the ones already painted.

Jack

Looks like we've found the Virgin equivalent to The Qantas Source, Perhaps a sticky with fleet movements is required at some point...
Hahaha, if you say so! I will try to update frequently.

H jack just FYI I am about to board new bsi aircraft. I think the codes u got maybe a little weirder they've got more then 4 as the plane I am getting on right now is Vh-Yva. I took a phot with the iPhone. Will try and post.Maybe they've got more then 4 but it was my understanding they did only have 4 sofar.

Usually new deliveries are "sequential" a la the 330s but the 738s seem to be a hodge-podge of regos.

Any reason for this?

(The repaints I can understand being all over the place as they rotate through the paint shop in line with maintenace / work requirements).

I asked this the other day, before I knew about YVA...

It will be YF series aircraft. YFC, YFE,YFF. However, YDF is registered to a random prop aircraft so they had to skip it.

I'm wondering if YVA could be a special aircraft. Considering it has the word VA in the rego? Just a thought.

YVA is a new one, delivered 15 days ago:

Sweet! Added to the list! And great photo from Brock!

There is probably not to many sequential blocks left, and DJ have previously not always done blocks so why not look for something that is meaningful, like Bretts Jet and (Y)es (V)irgin (A)ustralia. Perhaps we will even see Y Not Toasters
