I have to say, I'm not very impressed with Virgin giving me no points or status credits for my recent BNE-DELHI-BNE flights on SQ via their new alliance. I was told that the fare my company purchased in economy wasn't a fare that would earn points on SQ, so Virgin agreed. Fair enough about the no points, but no SC's? That sucks. Even the cheapest flights get SC's on Virgin. I'd have to say that I won't go out of my way to fly SQ for the Virgin benefits. Delhi refused to put priority tags on my bag. Looks like back to QF and oneworld.

While sympathising with your predicament my situation has been more rewarding and satisfactory. On two journeys to Asia recently, albeit in J, I have received enough miles and SCs to make VA Gold but also had the revenue applied to help with my PPS renewal. The best of both worlds.

Did your Company really fly you to DEL and back with a Y fare so cheap that no miles or SCs were awarded? Therefore most probably no changes were possible either - a bit of a risk for a Company who values an employee and does not want them stranded in a foreign country in case of sickness or civil disruptions, I would have thought. Times are tight and a cheap ticket domestically is different from a multi-hop international journey. Maybe I just work for more sympathetic clients.

Unfortunately there's not much to do beyond chalking it up as a hard-earned lesson. But if you decide to switch back to oneworld, be aware that the "problem" is not limited to SA/VA. If you elect to take a oneworld option such as CX via HKG, you'll find that their website often offers up S class fares which don't earn on QF.
