Due to the popularity of the Premium Entry at our Sydney Lounge, the operating hours have been extended to operate weekends.

Starting this Saturday (September 24th) the operating hours will be:

05:15 - 21:15 Monday to Sunday

Valet service hours will remain the same 05:15 - 21:15 Monday to Friday

More details can be found at the website here

Thanks for your support!

This is great news! I love the premium entry at Syd T2:D, except for the "obligatory" explosives test at security:(

You must look like a terrorist  I've not had an explosives test there!

Fantastic! Can you see the big smile on my face? :p

I usually travel through Sydney on weekends so don't get the opportunity to use it as often as I like.

We were saying in the office the other day, they have to be the most friendly security staff anywhere in the world.

Haha, I agree, I think they just want to do the explosives test so they can have a little longer chat each time :)

Wait til I see you in Cbr!!

If you indeed have lugagge to check in, can you not check your luggage in the normal way, then go back out the bldg to use the Premium entry? It would seem a quicker way to avoid the security Qs at T2:idea:

Should have read the website more closely!
If you are travelling with checked baggage please approach one of the Virgin Australia Priority Check-in counters inside the main Departures Hall where our team will be happy to check in your baggage. You can then choose to enter the Virgin Australia lounge through the Premium Entry outside or through the general entrance to the right of the public security screening point inside Terminal 2.

There's no reason you can't do that, I do it all the time. Just say to the girls on the desk you've already checked in and they will wave you through.

This is awesome. Check my luggage in at the priority counter, and then walk outside through the premium entry makes Sydney airport more enjoyable.

Even the security people seem friendlier!

Someone needs to give the VFF website a through clean up.

I'm flying out of SYD on Sunday, I thought I'd get a chance to try out the premium entry so when I booked my flights a while ago I looked at the benefits page here:

Platinum Membership | Velocity Frequent Flyer

and saw this

It wasn't until I received an email today leading up to my flight and telling me that I could use the premium entry that I realised that it had been extended to operate on the weekends.

At least is good recognition that all business does not actually cease at 5pm AEDST Fri until 9am Mon.. full credit to VA for this. Unlike QF whom cannot consistently do PB on the weekends (In BNE and SYD that I saw recently).

Far better for a delivered benefit to not appear on the website than the inverse, as with another airline :p

I have availed myself of premium entry a number of times now on weekends and it's terrific, just wish the lounge itself was as sparking new as at MEL (time will change this) and there were more food options.

I must admit it never occurred to me that the premium entry wouldn't be open on weekends. I entered at 5:45am a couple of Saturdays ago!

Oh yeah, it use to not be open on the weekends, I believe ex AFF'er Misha and myself both walked into the glass door one Sunday afternoon.

Was just trawling the Virgin website and found this:

“Sydney Premium Valet vehicle drop-off is available seven days a week, from 45 minutes prior to our first flight departure until our last flight is called for boarding” (Valet Parking | Virgin Australia).

Is this new? I thought valet was M-F, and only lounge entry was open weekends?

Used this service last week. Loved it....no crowds, but almost guaranteed to be given the swipe over that we all try and avoid at security. As said previously, security staff were very friendly.

Sent from my GT-P7500 using AustFreqFly

This is correct – we’ve just extended Sydney Premium Valet hours to include weekends, so now it’s open every day of the year. Hope you all find it convenient.

Actually this feature is of no use to me whatsoever but what I would like to see is a lounge in the Sydney International terminal that ALL Virgin Platinum, Gold or J class passengers travelling on a VA flight number can use. Currently VA Gold or Platinum members travelling on a VA flight number in Business to Honolulu for example have no lounge access at Sydney International. That is a not an acceptable situation. What lounge access can Virgin offer me?

Totally agree. I'm doing SYD-HNL soon (on HA metal, obviously), travelling in J and am VA Gold. If I travel on the VA flight number, I get no lounge access. If I travel on the same flight on the HA flight number, I get access to the NZ lounge. Ridiculous. I had originally booked on the VA flight number, but have now cancelled that and rebooked on the HA flight number. So VA loses the revenue because of its stingy attitude on lounge entry.

VA needs its own lounge at SYD International.

I head that VA was doing their own international lounge in SYD.. But haven't heard an update for months!

Given that NZ own 20% of VA they should be looking after any J passengers or Gold/Platinum member who wants to use the NZ lounge in SYD!

It's a small cost to loyal members

And remember in this case with VA no lounge access at Honolulu either.
