Apologies if this has been asked recently, but does anyone have inside knowledge (or rumours) on Virgin’s return to LAX flights? As a Plat FF that flew this route 2-3 times a year pre-COVID, I’m hopeful it will return sometime soon, as the UA arrangement is a poor substitute - prices are still ridiculous, and harder to get flights/upgrades using points

I believe they are re-kitting a sub fleet of their largest aircraft, the 737s to achieve a world first long haul route using them 😉.

It’s not going to happen anytime soon sorry, they have to sell Virgin first before anything of that magnitude happens, if ever.

Not for the foreseeable future, if at all. As mentioned above, VA would have to be partly or entirely sold first.

Also to add, the current owners are spending their CapEx on their current major project; the cabin refits across their whole 737 fleet. The new 737 cabins are also closer to the LCC layout with a Spirit Airlines-like "Big Front Seat" layout for their J seats with the "Sky Divider".

That suggests Long Haul will remain off their radar for the foreseeable future.
