Faced with a choice of Garuda, Jetstar or Virgin Blue, I think Virgin Blue could do well here! (Pity they didn't announce V Australia flights there!)

It is actually Pacific Blue (subtle difference), and I imagine it will be with 737's

7 hrs on that aircraft... you reckon they will use better seats (ie one that can actually recline) and lengthen the seat pitch?

For a flight of that duration you'd think they'll use larger aircraft ie a 767, like Jetstar.

I posted about this in this thread.

Anyway, did you notice that they're not doing the direct flights that Garuda/Jetstar do?

If you want to fly from SYD or MEL you have to transit, whereas Garuda / Jetstar is direct (I think).

Still, I think if most people want a premium service, they will fly via Singapore on SQ or QF.

its probably with the 737's they took out of service, when the fuel prices went sky high.

I doubt that anything will change as far as seating / pitch configuration goes, as I am sure the same aircraft will also service the Port Moresby route plus other Australian destinations. I dont these these 737 aircraft for the international sectors will offer the premium economy seating either

Jetstar don't have many 767's, they use A330's on some (Sydney), but A320's on others (Perth!)

Don;t think there is a direct service from Melbourne on Jetstar (via SYD or DRW)

Jetstar doesn't have ANY 767's, they are an ALL AIRBUS fleet. (Until the B787s arrive.)

A330s on ALL - MEL & SYD nonstop services, and A320s on all PER & (via) DRW services

I stand corrected. In any case, Pacific Blue don't have anything bigger,.

Sorry my bad. You're right it's not 767, i was thinking of the A340 which i took to Osaka this time last year.

Maybe we will see VA do SYD-DPS :)

Economy seats aren't going to be that different whether it is a 767. A330 or 737.

all we need now is Tiger to announce flights to Bali.

Now those introductory fares would be cheap!

Well the V Australia plane does sit around from 8:15am to 9:30pm which is easily enough for another flight in the middle to somewhere. But then again it's a nice rest for the new 777's and a chance to do maintenance!

Was told today that the VB aircraft operating the DPS services are all 737 800's

VH VOQ Peta Pan
VH VOX Missy Mainlander
VH VUM Brindabella Blue
VH VUN Madelaide

Also told that all VB Denpaser sectors except BNE_DPS, ADL-DPS PER_DPS, will offer FREE Live to air.
The $9.90 looks like it will only be charged on the outgoing sectors above, , not inbound to Australia.

It also seems that no seating configuration / seat pitch will be altered on these aircraft
