Hi all

I recently flew DJ and noted their updated destination maps at the back of their in-flight mag. Happy with the update, as their old maps were a mish mash of lines and airlines everywhere. They now have separated between Virgin Blue destinations on one map (which includes Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue, Polynesian Blue, V Australia and Skywest) and the map on the next page has Codeshare destinations (which includes Virgin Atlantic, Etihad, Hawaiin, Thai, Air Mauritius). This got me thinking. How do codeshare partners like Etihad, Air Mauritius and Thai, which are not Velocity partners fit into Velocity Rewards. That is, if I flew Thai connecting from a DJ domestic flight on a single ticket, do I earn Velocity points and status credits for the entire journey?

I think the answer is no,I would say that earning points would be limited to Velocity partners and not just codesharers. In your example I think
you would earn velocity points on the DJ flight but would need to join the Thai FF program to earn points on that sector,at least that is how I understand it.
I think there is a big difference between a codeshare partner and a FF partner.
The Velocity website details only the following as earning partners-
Virgin Blue,Virgin Atlantic,Emirates,V Australia,Pacific Blue,Hawaian Airlines,Malaysian,Skywest and Polynesian Blue airlines.

Thanks for your reply NIGELINOZ. That's what I thought as well but wasn't sure. Given that, I would find it more meaningful to have the codeshare partners map replaced with a Velocity partners map. But then again, I am a frequent flyer points buff...

Hi,

Yes, NigelinOZ is correct about only earning Points with Velocity Partners, but you do make a good Point about updating the Voyeur Maps with a Velocity Partners map :)

I'll feed this back to our marketing team.

Cheers,

Ricky

And PLEASE get rid of all that connecting flight rubbish. It makes the map VERY hard to read and see where you actually fly.

Also is there a reason why Pacific Blue flights have different colours for NZ and the islands... keep it simple and readable!

I totally agree with ANstar. The connecting flights is information overload. Whilst DJ may not wish wish to follow QF, the QF maps are very easy to read and understand.

In my view, the DJ maps should consist of the current Virgin Blue Destinations map showing Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue, Polynesian Blue and V Australia destinations (not sure why Skywest is in there) and a second map showing Velocity Partner destinations.

!

Second that - why is it there? - who cares?! I think is just to try and make the map look busy and DJ look bigger and busier than they actually are ;)
