Virgin Blue Hawaiian Airlines Interline Agreement?

Hi all,

Is there a Virgin Blue / Hawaiian Airlines interline agreement in place? No one at Virgin Blue seems to know the answer!

FYI, I'm wanting to book MEL-SYD, SYD-HNL-SYD, SYD-MEL using velocity rewards points, and I want to take advantage of the 2 x 32kg baggage allowance with Hawaiian Airlines back through to MEL without incurring excess baggage fees. Velocity Rewards tell me that there will be 2 separate PNR's.

I don't believe there is an interline agreement in place. If you go to the HA website you will see that you cannot book HNL-SYD-MEL on their internet booking engine which you should be able to do if there is an interline available (for example on the VA website you can book SYD-LAX-LHR with the second leg being an interline with VS).

Maybe the confusion stems from the fact that there used to be an interline agreement.

I stand corrected by our Alliances department who advise:

Both Virgin Blue and V Australia have interline agreements with Hawaiian Airlines. There is also a Velocity agreement with reciprocal FFP being worked on. HA don't appear to sell any interline partners on their website, and in fact, their website even has a special link to Virgin Blue and our connections

The initial question on the forum appeared to be a redepmtion question, which is true that separate tickets must be issued for the DJ and HA flights when purchased using Velocity points, whereas the interline agreement kicks in when the flights are all booked together and this is where the HA baggage allowance and baggage through check are permitted.

Just flew the leg-and was told there is no current agreement in place- when I had to drag my luggage onto the bus to the domestic terminal- I was told they are currently in negotiations. It was sooo much easiers with the seamless transfer. My luggage ( 2 x 22kg) was not a problem- VB accepted the bags with no excess charges. Let's hope they work it out.

Moose65, can you specify which leg you are referring to and whether it was a points booking?
