I'm planning my holiday for march / april next year and been keeping my eyes open for some bargains as they arise.

I was checking ou hotelscombined which showed a hotel in TPE that gets good reviews and in a location convenient to public transport etc.

The hotel can be booked on the hotelclub website, but when going via the virgin blue link it shows the hotel (and I'd say 20% of the hotels it shows) as being on request.

I was hoping to get a good rate and a few extra miles on my booking.

I'm wondering why Hotelclub is limiting the availability of hotels when you book via Virgin Blue:?:

I read the thread title as the cost being far less. Shame it’s not. Strange that they’re on request indirectly though, and I can’t imagine how it’d make a difference not booking directly through HotelClub’s website? Or do they credit as Velocity points?

Sam

when you book via Virgin Blue you get 3 Velocity points per AUD spent.

When booking with Hotel Club direct you get their reward system which is something like 2-3%.

I am wondering if you book with your Amex do you get the 5 MR points when booking via the Virgin Blue Hotel Club site. Could be a nice little earner to get 8 points per $ spend

I read the same. I have been a little hesitant to pay AUD150+ for 1 night at either Novotel or Marriott at Hong Kong Airport. Seems such a waste for 5-6 hours transit so I may actually stay at the airport overnight.

Would be nice but you need to go through the Amex portal and the normal HoteClub discount does not apply to these bookings.
