Does Virgin offer any better value business pricing?

My corporate travel budget allows me to spend $300/hour in business class domestically. If there's no seats at this price in business on any airline, then it's the cheapest Y seat to be booked (for flights under 4 hours). The new business pricing means Virgin have essentially priced themselves out of our corporate policy, and this means I'll end up flying QF purely because the status.

I want to keep DJ Plat, and there's budget to NOT fly economy. Any thoughts?

Do you get a corporate discount with Virgin? If not, would your company be large enough to negotiate one?

A company I used to work for in a previous life had a policy of allowing domestic travel in J if both sectors were over 4 hrs 30 mins........ Perth to Brisbane is 4hrs 25 mins with the tailwind so it didn't qualify. Now that's retarded.

Amex currently have 25% off DJ business class domestically for platinum and centurion members which will likely bring you into the $300/hr range. I am sure corporate discounts are to be had. I have been doing a fair bit of SYD - BNE over the last month works out at just short of $400 one way with a scheduled flight time of 1 hour 30 mins. My budget is $1000 per round trip so does not normally allow J class.
Combined with the double points and sc this month I am very happy and will easily requalify platinum.

Excellent rates! My BNE-SYD budgets are $900 rt, which ends up being booked as a $250 rt cheapie because no biz matches the criteria.

Amex 25% off sounds great - wonder if DJ would give that rate in general for a 'business class only' corp account?

Wow! Thats a really good concept. We simply have a 'no domestic J' policy (since the GFC) which I find insane and inflexible.

As much as I would like to be flying Dom J I can't see the justification for it personally (SYD-Per or equivalent excepted).

As a concept, I understand the above sentiment. However, I have to say, Virgins made a pretty good effort in recent times and the priority checkin, security, bags, lounge, seat/food and so on has made a measurable difference to my mood and general condition upon arrival on those occasions when I've been able to wangle a J ticket (despite our policy).

Its the end-to-end nature of the service, when it works properly, that seems to be the key.
