Virgin Crew Sleeping Quarters on a B777

I would pay to stay in one of these during my flight.

Once we were flying SQ and my husband was stretching and checking out the outside of the crew rest area, trying to figure out how they fit in there/slept as the space didnt seem big enough. He was just standing there looking at the outside and the FA opened the door and offered for him to go inside and check it out - which he did. He didnt have his phone on him so no photos but he was impressed/would have happily stayed there for the rest of the flight. He was like a big kid when he came back to our seats and told me where he disappeared to.

It's a good place for us to unwind for sure. It's a lot quieter than most parts of the aircraft so noises from the cabin can easily be heard, especially the slamming of the overhead lockers. If you've ever been in seat 1G and wondered why there's no overhead locker there, it's because thats our emergency exit from there.

Considering they seemingly have the space to create an upper deck on a B777, I'm unsure why an airline hasn't considered selling a cabin that is more bed than seat. Start in economy for takeoff and finish in economy for landing, but relocate to a bed for the majority of the flight in a pod above the cabin. Forget fancy food and drink, all you need is rest. I'd pay for it!

I've spent 5 hours of a flight in one - welcome reprieve from my Y seat!

You cant just say that and leave it. How did you get a golden ticket to the comfy beds?

[magic!!]

It was certainly a unique experience and took a little getting used to - I was lying head to the front of the plane, it is a confined space with hard walls 2/3 of the way and a curtain around the bottom 1/3. Dead quiet - I was told I was not allowed to make a peep and that you stay put for the entire 'shift' so as not to disturb others. Nice and dark too.

A well placed friend.

Lucky you got to be able to do it, but I wouldn't be advertising that. We've had crew fired for that exact reason.

So that's why there was no crew in J when I wanted service in the middle of flight! Here I thought they were in economy..... But just hiding in there.... Grrr

Meh, who cares. It's just a fluff piece. You can google images of crew rest any day of the week.
