Virgin flight change query

I received an email from Virgin advising my flight (business class) had changed to a much earlier flight on the same date.
Do I have to accept this? It means it totally changes the trip.

Does the routing have a later flight? If so, you'll need to call to ask to be rebooked...
 
Call up and they’ll change it. If you get any push back the points are (1) this is a “disruption” Ie caused by the airline and not you (2) you cannot fly on the earlier flight (it’s not the airline’s business as to why not, we all need sleep!)
 
I had similar, original booking changed to 12.30AM departure and it was to Melb and then Sydney. Phoned help desk and moved to a better 7.05am direct departure (better than 12.30AM)

This was for both a reward seat and a paid seat.

Thanks so much. I finally got someone on the phone after more than an hour, and they very kindly switched to a later flight.
 
What is going on with scheduling and routes lately? I get the school holiday rush and covid staff levels are throwing major spanners in the works but next month im noticing alot of direct routes are disappearing.

I know living in a Backwater doesn't help but all of a sudden the direct flights from ADL to HBA have vanished from the second week of August.

yup I've been re routed through Melbourne for an October booking...

In the last 12 months I've had 2 flights changed to the day before I booked them for. These were both the first legs of a 3 and 2 leg trip. I ended up just booking an el cheapo ibis airport hotel both times. Couldn't be forked faffing around trying to get a flight back to the same day I originally booked coz then I'd have to change the next legs as flights were just limited and I'd have ended up having to change them all IYKWIM

I noticed that after a cancelled flight and was downgraded (6th March) .
When I clicked on "Other Options" (going from MEL - OOL) there were lots of options including taking 3 flights etc. great for a status credit run if you have the flexibility and time to do such a re-routing.
