I have to do regular SYD-MEL return trips and over recent months, am finding it much easier to get low fairs on Virgin when booking 1-2 weeks out.

The two lowest fare types on QF are rarely available at peak morning and afternoon times yet Virgin always has plenty.

Now that I've re-qualified for QFF Gold this year I don't feel compelled to fly Qantas and am taking more Virgin flights and saving a heap of money. My trip next week cost only $49 each way. I hope DJ starts a FF program.
