Hi All,

Per another thread, DJ announced that Delta Platinum / Asia Gold / Skyclub members can access DJ lounges in Australia.

Has anyone tried this yet and are the lounge staff aware (especially Sydney airport).

Am usually a QP attendee but am on a flight in a few weeks where qantas dont fly. So am hoping I can just enter the DJ lounge with my Asia Gold / Skyclub memberships (and DJ boarding pass) without having to train the staff on their own rules?

Or am I just being paranoid?

It may be on hold as the tie up was not approved by Government Authorities.

It appears to be a published benefit according to Delta:

Delta Sky Club Locations

Do check what sort of membership you actually have with Delta, as this changes what lounges are available to you.

Yeah, I am an Asia Gold Medallian as well as Skyclub (only a whisker off Platinum).

Have previously checked site (and confirmed with delta) and know what I am apparently entitled to. Just not sure if DJ staff are aware as well :)

You could call them and check with them, you might get someone who knows.

Rest assured, The Lounge staff are all trained to recognise and allow entry of Virgin Atlantic, Etihad, Delta Gold and Asia Gold (and above) members .

If you dont have your VS Gold Card is that an issue?

Great stuff!

Small suggestion: get the web people to put up a page on the Velocity or Virgin Blue site outlining which shiny cards of your partners get what (along with a note identifying the requirements for accessing said benefits - i.e., is the physical card required?).. The one on the QF site showing same is pretty good for this.

DJ Lounge Staff at SYD were aware of Delta Skyclub members having access (including paid 30 day memberships)

Slightly OT: Does being an Australian SkyMiles member mean you get Asia Gold Medallion? Is it the same level (50,000 MQM) as ordinary GM?

I couldn't say for certainly but I beleive that is correct. I reached Gold (50,000MQM) and as part of the package they sent out, it said I had access to Skyclub and affiliated on the Gold membership card. I emailed Delta querying the access as the card doesnt mention Asia Gold at all.

Response received (from memory as email is long deleted) was along the lines of, if you are skymiles member is Asia Pacific region and reach Gold, there are additional benefits.

I presume this is due to the limited flight options for Delta out of Asia/Australia. Which is fine by me. I travel Sydney to DC regularly and dont mind the Delta J class

I'll be in AUS for a few months next year and I just saw this. Is this really a major perk for Delta SC members unless we are flying within AUS? Delta arrives and departs from the International Terminal so I am assuming that getting from Lounge to Gate is not going to be a smooth affair. (AUS is a hole in the Skyteam system, of which Delta's a member, which is pretty frustrating... )

Depending on your flights and membership.

If you are simply a skyclub member, you have no lounge access at the international terminal (international terminal is not attached to domestic terminal). If flying domestically, then you can use virgin blue lounges if flying virgin blue.

The asia gold membership (available to gold members residing in Asia Pacific) provides for access to international lounge through Air New Zealand if flying on Delta.

And yes, i agree having a massive skyteam hole in Australia is frustrating. Especially when they keep adding low cost Chinese carriers that i would never consider flying on.
