So I'm looking at doing hba - lax return in June 2013. $$$$ is $1,400 return - very good fare. Virgin points are 95K & $850. Point value is diminishing - help:(

Pay cash. Or look at the points cost for a higher cabin class. Awards in economy are generally poor value.
 
There is another massive thread on the devaluing of DJ points when it was 'enhanced' and some people had some good finds and ideas...(on phone can't search myself)
 
I just booked 2 x J BNE-SIN-BNE in late Oct for 225K points plus $45 ( EY metal )

Booking through either VA or EY would cost $7770.00 incl taxes. I consider this good value.
