I'm paying more attention to Virgin activities, as I'm much more likely to be flying them domestically hereon in.

Friends of mine were booked HBX-xMEL-XSYD-DRW yesterday in Business, revenue ticket. Their MEL-SYD sector got cancelled as they were about to board.

Virgin put them up overnight and then on a Qantas flight (only in whY  ). They arrived in DRW half a day late.

I know its not an exact science, but is this what you'd expect with VA (ie using another airline to get the pax away)? Or were they just lucky?

Stories of cancelled flight service recovery or non-recovery from Virgin?

Exactly 12 years ago Virgin canceled my flight and put me on QF Virgin seem to happily transfer people to Qantas faster than Qantas.
Qantas we will get you there when we can get you there.

Once I did a OOL-SYD on VA to connect to a SYD-AVV JQ as I was heading down Geelong way. Very risky I know, however only carry on and second VA flight soon after should one fall over thought I’d be good. Both got cancelled sadly due to storm passing over and aircraft diverted. I asked if they could put on a OOL-MEL instead and they happily did no charge at all. I was only a silver member at the time.

Better vs my Tiger experience in ASP like 10 plus years ago. Canceled and next flight in 5 days. Here is a bit of paper if you want a refund contact customer service but refund will take 8 weeks. cough I only paid $9.95 for the airfare! Only cost a grand to get home via QF.

VA rebook often onto QF and JQ where they can. Obviously it can be a downgrade if you'd booked J but at least they try and keep people moving.

Great example of you get what you pay for. I've been rebooked on QF when VA has cancelled at late notice, without so much as a breath of air.
