Despite Virgin in trading halt I am still receiving emails to transfer flybuy points to Velocity. Given the tenuous situation the company finds itself in I think this is risky use of points. I certainly regret a recent 138,000 point transfer.

I got the same email as well.. to be honest, I doubt many would transfer anymore points into velocity at this time, they might stay with flybuys at the moment

Velocity is a separate company to Virgin Australia, the trading halt of the latter has nothing to do with the former

But without virgin the velocity points aren’t easy to use unless transferred to partner airlines which may or may not honour them.

I think we are all aware of that. The thrust of the post was that the email links to transferring points only to Velocity. The purpose of transferring to Velocity is generally to use to purchase Virgin flights. Otherwise you would use them straight from flybuys.

They could probably still be used, just maybe not what we'd prefer to use them for. We can't know how this is going to turn out yet.

And? You can transfer your points to velocity and use them for a reward, as per the email.

Can't blame them - trying to generate some revenue from Flybuys before going belly-up...

Very unethical though if they know they are going to fold soon. IIRC Dick Smith sold GCs at a discount shortly before their demise.

The stock is suspended from quotation on the stock exchange. This is mostly to allow it to do what it needs to do without having to continually disclose what is happening.

Velocity is owned by Virgin Australia.

Hope my FF velocity wine order is going to come in time. If Velocity is a seperate company to Virgin points should still have value for gift shop. Yeah...what chance!

I have a lot of flybuy points about 250 dollars value. I will be taking the money.

Charities will pay very good money to data management companies, for data.
Data management companies could be the main ones, who would buy data from VFF if they were selling info.
There is money to be made, as we all know, VFF has how many million members, 1m or what ever, can't remember, but a savvy operator might buy into VFF, if it was put up for sale.
If you give to one charity, or buy from places like Magnamail, or several of those, and don't tick the box to not be on their mailing list, you will start to get plea letters from all and sundry charities.
Buying and selling of data seems to be allowed, I have complained to the ACM authority, they say its not illegal, and to contact fair trading in the state the charity is registered in, that is too troublesome, so every charity plea I get, from charities I have never donated to, I reply with a paid stamp, that I don't donate to them, and ask where they got my name from.
Several have said, data management companies.
Won't be surprised, if a data management company buys over the data or the whole of VFF.
And yes, I also do still get the VFF email to put points from FB to VFF.
Am letting my balance sit in FB for the time being, have got 20k VFF balance.

Email today asking to join an opinion group ... maybe you're right, boosting the database data tree.
