Going to HK next week and trying to find out about getting visa for Shenzhen for a day trip.

Reading different message about needing a visa arranged here in Australia (too late!) or purchasing in HK (China Travel Service?) or being able to buy a visa at the border.

Anyone got the latest??

dmgale1960;248417,

Welcome to AFF.

I can't answer your question unfortunately but please just ask the question once and those in the know will come to your aid. ;)

Last time I went across I simply bought my visa at the border. Was easy and cheap... although make sure you don't go over on a popular public holiday.

The last time I bought a visa at the border I stood in line for over an hour; I would recommend trying to get a visa before you leave or buying one in Hong Kong.

I am sure you would have time to get a visa here before you left if you can visit the consulate, however there may be an additional fee for urgent processing.

Here's another thread I started last year regarding getting a visa at the border:

http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/your-questions/shenzhen-visa-arrival-lo-wu-12665.html

I've done the process twice - and the visa has been issued in a reasonable time each time I've been there. Still, the certainty of a visa beforehand would be nice!

BTW, I'm assuming Australian passport. Other passports have different fees, and some are ineligible for getting a visa on arrival.
