I was just booking a DJ flight and I checked in the redemption program drop down menu when filling out the guest information and lo, I found Virgin Atlantic as an option.

No details on the VS site about earning rates, but I will give it a go and see what happens.

Update: Rang VSFC, they have no idea about the earning rates.

Malysian have also been appearing therefor a while (12 months or so?), but nothing has ever been published on the MH site or the enrich page.

In saying that I know Virgin Atlantic did have a "Virgin Blue, coming soon" bit of their page under FF partners that was short lived... I hope Flying club do have them as a partner as I would prefer to put DJ points there.

I'm not sure I should be posting this here since it really is to do with VS FC and not Velocity, but it is about flying on Virgin Blue!

Anyway...

VS have finally put up the mileage earns on DJ

Virgin Atlantic Airways - Popup

The question is how do you know DJ booking class (apart from when it appears on the boarding pass you get at check-in with an agent)?

VS grant miles according to: Promotional Economy (Happy hour?, mid-week minis?) 25% of miles flown;
Discount Economy 50% of miles flown;
Full Economy 100% of miles flown
and Premium Economy 125% of miles flown.

I think (going on vague memories of DJ BPs gone by...)the fares are grouped like this:

Promotional Economy: Sale Fares, Happy Hour Fares, Midweek Minis, Blue Saver Promos
Discount Economy: Blue Savers
Full Economy: Flexible Fares, Corporate Plus Fares
Premium Economy

Bit of a disappointment that you don't earn tier points from the flights. Still, it's certainly another useful option.

Well I thought I would try and get some of my DJ flights credited ot Flying club as that is where I am now putting all my Amex points.

They didnt go on automatically, but a quick email to flying club here in Sydney and they were on within 4 hours.

Just needed my ticket & boarding pass.

I've had to email VS FC with the boarding pass to get it credited. I am only going to do it for the Full Economy and Discount Economy as the Promotional Economy fares earn hardly anything - not that they earn that much in Velocity. It's just a shame that none of it counts for status.
