So, I have after several phone calls to SQ managed to get the upgrade cleared from waitlist... BUT, only one leg of the journey (PER-SIN). The other leg (SIN-CPH) is still on the waitlist. They want a response before the 2nd of July.

My question is, if I accept the upgrade PER-SIN, I do understand that I will have to pay the normal amount of points, but... if the second leg becomes available, do I pay the remainder of the points (PER-CPH minus what I already paid) or do I have to pay the full fare from SIN-CPH, which is the same amount of points as PER-CPH?

My aim was to get into J on the long leg of the journey as that one is the one that bothers me, but if I have to pay up twice then I am not interested.

If I dont accept, can I go on the waitlist again when they take it away?

Sorry for all the confusing questions but I have never done anything like this before. I was just going to suck it up and go Y, but then I injured my back and the mere thought of 24 hours in cattle class is making me anxious :p

RoseAnna I am a bit confused - you have made a Y Saver rdpt PER-SIN-CPH and are wanting to upgrade to J? Upgrade request on PER-SIN sector has cleared but SIN-CPH sector still on WL? You did only make one booking PER-SIN-CPH right and not 2 bookings PER-SIN first then SIN-CPH as second booking?

I made one booking in Y, PER-SIN-CPH. I requested an upgrade to J which was waitlisted. I rang and asked them to see what they could do.
They have now cleared PER-SIN, but not the rest.
I only made one booking, not two. Per-Cph (which shows as per-sin-cph)

Is this a commercial ticket as in normal purchase or a redemption booking paying KF pts?

Just a normal ticket, booked and paid for (upgradable). Had to change dates last week though, but its been booked since September last year.

I wanted the upgrade as a points redemption using KF Points.

I have zero knowledge or experience in upgrading comm tix so am loathe comment further - KF call ctr is your best bet - call and ask all the specific questions you desire to be answered is best advice I can give.

Been on their case three times today... I can be a really nagging woman sometimes... (just ask my husband *lol* )... still awaiting a reply :D

Our friends were downgraded from Suites this week even though they had previously been emailed to tell them they had the upgrade off a wait list. So Suites were full and they were put back to business class.

Not sure CE. There were four and the first two were in and the "proposed upgrade" pair were out.
The two olds had DOM Perignon with orange juice......
The two who missed out definitely thought they had snared two suites upgrades.

Upgrade secured for PER-SIN sector with approval that if the SIN-CPH goes through they will refund my points and charge me for the PER-CPH instead.
They did follow up with two phone calls but I am still in the same boat as before. But at least it seems as if they are doing something.
They have put in for a special request due to family circumstances and back injury and I just hope that they come through. It is quite stressful as it is and I really do not need this at all. I dont understand why it has to be waitlisted? What are they waiting for? It just annoys the cough out of me when I already have things hanging over me... sorry for the rant. Hoping for positive news soon :p

RoseAnna not all comm tix on any airline are upgradeable at the request of pax. Sounds like you have mounted a reasonable request to warrant upgrade if loading / yield management permits. This site is littered with considerable number of postings re upgrades / waitlist not clearing - harsh as it may sound but you can't just stamp your foot and expect SQ to jump for you.

I am not expecting them to jump for me, but I dont understand how they can upgrade half a ticket? That was the original issue... and I do understand it might not clear at all in the end as it looks like a full flight but I know that they are working on it.
I guess it was for the fact that it took me 4 phone calls and 2 emails before I was heard. Now I do understand they are doing what they can and will get back to me if possible, but before then I was quite brushed off. Guess I just have to stock up on pain killers and hope for the best. It will be ok in the end. I am sorry if I sound like a real jerk, I promise I am not. I have been very polite all the way. I am very aware that they are all doing their jobs and they have to work within the limitations of it. I would never say anything bad or complain because someone is just doing their job the best they can. And you do catch more flies with honey, right :)
