Having only really flown in mid/late nineties onwards my historical flying experience is limited but I stumbled on this...

Was it really like this?

I think I'd remember if any TAA or ANA (Australian National Airlines) hostie looked like that!

I have seen that image linked to in the BA FT forum.

... must see if I can dig it up as there's some other rather interesting images IIRC.;)

"Would you like some TWA coffee sir?"

"No thanks, I'd rather have some TWA tea"

simongr, you should have seen what the FAs wore in First Class!!

Seriously, I think I would have recalled FA attire like that pictured...sadly, I can't! :(
- must have flown the wrong airlines.

I wasn't flying much in the late 60's early 70's but bus conductress' (remember them?) skirts were about as short as those hotpants.

In those days I used to drink in the Racecourse Hotel in Alison Road Randwick where many of the girls from the nearby bus depot used to go after their shift.

Southwest airlines I believe.

There's a gruen transfer episode on airline marketing that discusses this. Has been screening on qf domestic flights a lot recently butbim sure it's available on DVD/legal or illegal download.
