Last time I flew Virgin I did a web check in at 25hrs+ before the flight and it worked. Just tried a check in at 26+ hours before my flight and it worked fine too :!:

I have found the QF clock to be pretty accurate on the 24 hours. It seems that Virgin web check in is open well before the 24 hours. Is this the general experience? If so just when do they actually open web check in or does it vary?

re: Web checkin > 24 hours before

When I've tried checking in people that are Velocity Red, checkin will open 24/25hrs before departure. I can normally check-in myself, as a Platinum some 26-30hrs before departure.

It seems to be an elite benny ...

Se the last line of this post from yesterday: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....eat-selection-for-elite-33162.html#post493522

Interesting! It let me check my kids in too, separate booking ref and not elite. Perhaps our bookings got linked in the system after I made a phone inquiry about something the other day and discussed both bookings :?: Or maybe once I was "logged in" it extended the courtesy somehow:confused:

I gather with Virgin once checked in you cannot go back in and change your seat (essentially re-checking in) like you can with QF.

I Can't remember where I read it, but somewhere from memory I believe it says that DJ open their OLCI up 27 hours before a flight.

There is a way to change seats which I mentioned a little while back in another thread (can't remember which thread though!) Follow these steps:

1. Go to the booking and select web check in
2. Do your seat selection at the start of check in
3. DO NOT PROCEED any further with the check in - it will still retain your seat selection
4. At anytime before OLCI closes you can return to the booking and repeat these steps to change the seat.
5. Once you get to the point where there won't be any better seats, that's where you continue with the process and finish the check in. Alternatively you can just go to the airport and get a BP there, although very rarely they may reassign your seat for operational reasons. This can still happen even if you've printed a BP at home.
