Amazing to see morons that have no idea about 7kg onboard limit and then arguing with ground crew!

It's only been just over a year since JQ introduced new weight limits (down from 10kg to 7kg). And even then, that was only for tickets purchased after October 28 2104. For tickets purchased before that date, the old limits applied - and would have continued to do so right up until the latest date for sales (a year in advance).

Given some JQ pax are infrequent flyers, and some would have taken advantage of sales a long way in advance, they may have been caught out by the changes between their last flight and current one.

If you could take 10kg a couple months ago, and only 7kg now i can see the potential for confusion.

Details of the change: Cabin bag crackdown: Jetstar to reduce cabin baggage limit to seven kilograms from 10 kilograms

Its pretty clear during booking, reminders are sent pre departure to be aware of cabin baggage limits, its mentioned during olci and on the pdf boarding pass and throughout the airport .

Yet people are still surprised ( well I am Special)

It's amazing how many people cling to the old JQ 10kg carry on allowance and assume that it's the benchmark for all airlines.

Saw one gent with an accent unmistakably LOTFAP get his oversize carry on bag (ie what anyone else would call a 15kg checked bag) confiscated on a BNE/SYD flight (was connecting on to UA) saying that UA will let him take it onboard the SYD/SFO flight and went on to explain "I've got 3 million miles in my account, they let me bring on an elephant."

Well it's all these elephants hogging the locker space that prevent just about everyone else from putting their hand luggage anywhere other than under the seat in front.

PS even if you are a UA 1K member and have 3 million miles in your account doesn't mean a rival airline in a different alliance will give J upgrades out like candy like they do in the US.

Probably a service elephant.

Reply should have been..... In Australia we will take your 3million points and $10k in taxes, fuel and services fees..... Enjoy your economy BNE/SYD flight sir!

Well it was probably 6 million prior to UA taking over CO. Not necessarily all rainbows and unicorns on the other side of the fence.
