They sure know how to make money,
Hire cars will pass on the cost, OffT: taxis and uber and grab as well as (if Skybus decides to use it) will pass on the cost...

Was talking a driver last week and they were certain that the taxi charges will shoot up with the introduction of toll on the new tunnel alas whenever it is ready.

I'm not sure what the difference is to any other toll road. If you, or your mode of transport uses it, you will have to pay for it. I don't think it necessarily means taxi fares will increase across the board because of it.

Yes, its a tolled road, so it will add another set of tolls if you choose to have the convenience of using it.

Would you prefer nothing changed?
In all seriousness , the amount of time/fuel being wasted on the west gate bridge it out weighs the benefits to be delivered in future.

But hey I would rather prefer spending my life away from the west gate bridge than to complain about the time taken to complete the works.

It will of course depend on where traffic is coming from and going to. There is always the option of going on non tolled roads, such as the Westgate Bridge. People on the south east side of Melbourne can still go over the Bolte Bridge, like they do now. So the tolls should be the same. The Skybus should be able tom continue their current route so no change in tolls. This is my read of the setup. But I could be wrong!!!

I was about to say the same, with one small distinction... the MEL Skybus should be able to continue the current route.

It might be more efficient for the AVV Skybus route to go through the tunnel, but there's probably some fuel savings in it for them too, so who knows if the toll charges have any impact split over 30-40 pax. Not that the AVV Skybus really affects many people anyway 🤣

It is one of the most congested roads coming into city from the west , not sure how others feel but on paper if the trucks are all out from the westgate bridge it will be less chaotic during the rush hour.
