Hi Folks,
Thanks to the team here at FF, I have recently been "Goldified" into the SPG program. I am looking to spend 4 / 5 nights in Langkawi towards the end of January and was wondering if the members here have stayed at either the Westin or the Sheraton in Langkawi as I am looking to book early January.

I have already decided on Westin in KL (feedback in another thread), and am looking to book in early January there as well.

I have stayed at both as a SPG Plat a few years ago when they were both Sheratons, what is now the Westin has better rooms and better location, you can walk in Kuah easily for some duty free shopping, so I would take that option. They also have some awsome suites if you are lucky enough to get an upgrade.

I stayed this year in the Sheraton and was disappointed at how rundown it was.
Good service though. :)

I stayed at the Westin and The Datai last year. Had a pool villa for each - found the service at the Westin somewhat lacking, although the room was fantastic (included sleeping quarters/bathroom for your nanny/maid) as well as a pretty nice private pool.

It's closer to town, but if you don't mind staying a little more remote, The Datai's service and total experience were considerably better than the Westin.

One problem with the Westin was that everyone gets breakfast included, and often there was no where to sit, as 100+ people were eating at the same time.

Hi Folks,
Thank You for sharing your experiences and suggestions. I would love the Datai, however the pricing is way out of my budget. I have been tracking the Westin Price, it does not seem to have dropped. Given that I am looking to stay enf of January, I will hold onto begining january. Their should be better rpricing then. What do you guys think?:?:
