Card Offers Westpac Altitude Black offers: 120,000 Qantas or Velocity Points (expires 30/4/25)

You are probably the first person to report back about successfully doing this and thankyou for doing so.
Up until now, this had never been reported upon, only speculated Afaik.

Wonder why they say "Issued and serviced by American Express"...

As you so charmingly put it elsewhere:

No judgement. At least you can learn from your mistake.

I have learned and am a better person for it. I am thankful for the opportunity to grow. Imagine a world where that could never happen. For anyone or everyone. Imagine if you never had the chance to improve and lived a lie for the rest of your life.

The next *interesting* point is if the company's terms in writing are clearly false, then what else can they put in writing and then say is false? Suddenly not award the bonus in the future? Change 18 months to 24? or 36? Why stop there?

But they aren't false.
From the Amex explorer page:
"Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for this offer"

From the Westpac Amex page:
"Issued and serviced by American Express"

Are you saying that the description in writing of the Westpac Amex means that it is not a card issued by American Express? Just answer: Yes or No.

I've confirmed with American Express that any Westpac and David Jones Amex cards is separate to the rest of the Amex products and the 18 month wait period will not affect the bonus
That's good to know for sure though I was certain that was the case.

I'll be cancelling my Westpac Amex today anyway, coming up to a year on next statement and $199 is steep for no up front benefit. The ANZ travel adventures will do for insurance purposes. I can live without the Amex offers (I think!)

Did they give any explanation to what's on the official site for the Amex Westpac card? (see lower right of image)
Looks like they've confirmed - more than once - that the description on the website is wrong (ie false).

I can see Dr Raplph is too scared to answer the question above 😂

Well if you want a data point I held an AMEX-issed AMEX then the Westpac-issed AMEX within 18 months (while the former was still an active account) and received bonus points for both.

Why wouldn't it work the other way around. What you point to means little.

Can we please leave it at, you have a personal confirmation that you will still get the points, let's be happy and not try to escalate it to the amex marketing department to update their website?

It can only end in less points for consumers, not more!

Wrong, what people are saying is that they admit that the website is correct - and anyone who believes what the official text says is foolish - because it is not consistent with a very few reported (not proven) experiences.
ie. anyone who interprets "Issued and serviced by American Express" as exactly "Issued and serviced by American Express" is wrong.

The point is not that the terms are not being enforced, it's that the words disagree with some peoples' personal beliefs and they no capability of coping with disagreement.

What does this phrase mean? "Issued and serviced by American Express"

Do you honestly think they have zero idea about what it says and what is happening?
Same with other card issuers that give the bonus even though people may not satisfy all of the terms?
This has been mentioned in this forum several times over the years.

Up until now the idea of escalating it to the marketing department has never been mentioned - good on you for giving the community the idea to do so.

Maybe it will stop some of the posters in the last few pages in this thread from being immoral and dishonest in the future. Who knows.

There's always someone willing to spoil things!

Just stop. Please! I've not posted further, because unlike you I don't want to ruin things for others. You just do not seem to get it. Again, it's best for everyone if you just desist.

You are ostensibly misleading AFF members. This has been pointed out by multiple members in this thread and you seem wounded by this and can't move on. I'd encourage members to read the actual reports in this thread and see for themselves what's actually happening. And thank you to those members for providing valuable, accurate and useful postings.

I wont comment again further on this topic, but I'm sure that you will.

Learn to take orders, not give them - it's one of several things you seem to be really bad at.

The only person ruining it for others is you - who has made a public statement that Amex do not enforce the written terms. Then made a repeated attempt to confirm the false statement.

Because you have purposely tried to obfuscate the discussion and contribute to deception in the community, the next person reading on this topic should just refer to the description on the website. Then decide if they want to take that risk.

If you were genuine about not wanting to spoil things, you would have just kept quiet.
Maybe you should cancel your account and never post again. You just do not seem to get it. Again, it's best for everyone if you just desist.

Does anyone have a screenshot of the "Exclusive annual card fee offer" whereby the annual fee is waived for existing Westpac customers for the Amex ? Need to show Amex what was being promised as i've been hit with the $199.

Thank you

Note that if this was in the offers after you log into your account, that it will need to have been visible on your account. So if you saw it there then a screenshot will help. If not then they may still knock you back.

Not sure that this will be relevant. I wasn't charged the fee and didn't have the offer presented to me. Definitely wasn't 'visible' on my account.

These offers are often personalised to the account holder. They have many offers and some are targeted and some are public offerings.

I have even had then try and reneg on a personal offer that I viewed in my account. Their excuse was that I was not eligible and had not gotten the offer. My screen shot showing my entire screen (and not just a cut and paste of the offer) including date stamp demonstrated that I had in fact received the offer. They then agreed to pay the owed points, but only after I disputed and went up the line.

My offer was also somewhat different, as there was no exclusion period for existing cardholders. This allowed me to get the same points offer only one month after grabbing the first points offer. They also tried to dispute this terms, but as I had the screenshot they had to relent.
