Card Offers Westpac Altitude Black offers: 120,000 Qantas or Velocity Points (expires 30/4/25)

For those who are *pushing it* with the 12 month exclusion period, I've been informed that Westpac's system recognises this using the calendar month.
So if you cancel on 1 December one year, then apply on 13 December the following year and fulfil the requirements, the system will see this as "within 12 months" and not credit you the bonus once qualifying spend has been reached.

Oh, you're kidding me?! I just got approved for the Black on 22/02 after waiting "12" months. Cancelled my previous card on the 13th Feb 2019.

I'll be watching like a hawk for the bonus points to land. I hope this doesn't exclude me.

They list a 15k min credit limit (as with most black cards) but I was just conditonally approved for a 10k limit after applying for the listed 15k min. A bit odd. not really complaining though as i'd rather the lower limit.

I'd double check that you have got the right card for this offer.

Sometimes they've been know to automatically approve you for a lower card if you don't qualify for the one that you aplied for.

Macquarie did this to me once. Applied for the 15k limit and they gave me a random 12.5k limit.

Got a targetted offer to add an amex to this card when logging in today.

20k velocity points, 25 status credits, no annual fee for first year , 3k spend in 90 days. 3k minimum limit.

18 month exclusion for "any other American Express Westpac Altitude Card product" though so i'm not eligble for the bonus points or status credits.

Keen to apply for this one before the 31 March expiry. Has anyone else who is not a Wespac customer applied for this because when I select the "apply now" button, it asks me for my customer ID and password?

You could just open a bank account and become a customer?

They have a no annual fee promotion until the 31st of March ($50 reward fee for QFF or Velocity though):

This is interesting. I am not a Westpac customer and when you click on the above link, it takes you to the sign up page for the no annual fee promotion ..... but it looks like you need to be an existing customer to sign up. So I called Westpac today to ask how I could sign up for the card and the operator couldn’t find this actual promotion ...... the Westpac site only offers the $250 sign up.

She thought it must be a promo by a third party but I haven’t been able To find who or where.

Anyone else found the same .... especially if not an existing customer.

This offer just got updated today and they upped the amount of points you get.

Now it is 90,000 points after first year (no annual fee, $50 reward program fee) with $4000 min spend and if you hold for the second year you get another 30,000 points. For both velocity and qantas points.

no annual fee, $50 rewards program fee for first year and $300 for the 2nd year.

Are you using a special link to get the no-annual-fee offer? I can't seem to find this

OP didn't point this out, but I believe fee free may only be for existing Westpac customers. And this is also what is suggested on Ozbargain:

Right. Thanks @Dr Ralph , and thanks for the link @Obi-run Kenobi I see the apply button that sends me to a login page, where my old credentials are still active... I am wondering if that will work (if the fee will be waived)

As long as you can still successfully login to Westpac online banking then you should be fine. You could test this out first by trying to login through their homepage.

It has for me in the past. It's the only reason I keep a never used online savings account active with Westpac.

This trend of holding the card for the 2nd year to obtain the remaining points is certainly a drawback & there is no incentive to obtain the Black Amex Bundle as the bonus points are not relevant to any spend on the Amex card.

Hope to see a 100-120k bonus sign up & No Amex Fee after this promotion, similar to the offer last June.

Was that the 80k+40k bundle for no fee? Was pretty cool. I would wait for it if I had nothing better. It should come back at some points. I am sure that in the current context, generous offers will start to flourish again, maybe some with status credit too.

Yes it was indeed, a very sweet deal at the time!

I hope you're right ChrisMars, I do however think the opposite with any further lucrative offers as the Banks try to work with their current customers, mitigate lending risk and manage the Covid-19 workload amongst their workforce.

Now to reconsider the Amex version with the $199 fee as called today but they weren't willing to offer anything when I advised I was reviewing my account but will try again before the June annual review.
