I can't find anything specifically about this although someone must have asked?

I was just sent a Westpac Platinum card + Amex due to a new home loan, no annual fee so I said yes (I think there was a sign-on bonus)? I chose the non Qantas option because I want to explore Singapore/Virgin but frankly was just in a massive hurry and applied on my phone.

Question is is there any big advantage in the Qantas Points as opposed to the general Altitude Rewards card?

For context with my other cards I usually have up to 4-500,000 points plus on QFF each year and use it to buy a few business class tickets to the US every couple of years, partly due to tax payments.

Ideally I'd switch over completely to Singapore but haven't really looked into it.

My understanding is that you get the same number of QF vs. Altitude points for the sign-on but in general Altitude points convert at 2:1 and Krsflyer/Asia Miles at 2.5:1. While I think Krysflyer are worth more not this much more though I think I have heard report of people taking QF for the bonus points then changing to Altitude.

I'll get plenty more QF points eventually (thanks ATO), especially if the top rate goes back up to 49.5% .. so I can live with less of a sign on bonus as long as Altitude is an OK program. I think I saw they are scrapping the Amex mid-next-year.
